This page explains what happens to your money if you cancel, if we cancel, or if something goes wrong. It covers the Community, our products, and our Relocation Retreats.
The short version
This summary is here to help. The full policy below is what counts.
Send us a message with your name, what you bought, and what you’d like to do. We count your notice from the day we receive it, and we’ll reply within 2 business days.
Approved refunds go back to the card or account you paid with within 14 days. Your bank may take another 5 to 10 business days to show it.
Part 1
Guides, templates, calculators, and other digital products are delivered right away, so all sales are final.
The exception: if a file doesn’t work, you can’t get access, or you were charged twice, tell us within 30 days. We’ll fix it. If we can’t, we’ll refund you.
This covers printed products like the Move Abroad Planner.
Part 2
These rules work together with Part 2 of our Terms & Conditions. The February 2027 Rio pilot runs under its own separate agreement.
Your deposit is $1,000 for a single room or $1,500 for a shared room. It holds your spot and pays for planning and supplier bookings we make for you, so it’s non-refundable. The only exceptions are when we cancel the retreat or make a major change to it (see sections 10 and 11).
What happens to the money you’ve paid beyond your deposit depends on when we receive your notice:
| When we get your notice | Money paid beyond your deposit |
|---|---|
| 90 or more days before the retreat starts | Refunded to you |
| 89 days or fewer before the retreat starts | Turned into retreat credit, good for 12 months (see section 7) |
| No-show, or leaving the retreat early | No refund or credit |
Days are counted back from the first day of your retreat. Once you cancel, your remaining installments stop.
Instead of canceling, you can transfer your spot to someone else up to 30 days before the retreat starts, at no extra cost. They’ll need a short call with us and must accept our terms. You and that person settle any money between yourselves. We move the booking over as it stands.
A shared room is one booking. If one person cancels, the other can keep the trip by moving to a single room at the single-room price, with what’s been paid applied to it. Any amount paid beyond the single-room price follows the timing rules in section 6. If both people cancel, the whole booking follows section 6.
We don’t refund flights, visas, or other costs you paid on your own.
Sometimes a retreat can’t safely go ahead because of a natural disaster, war or unrest, a government travel ban, a disease outbreak, or losing the hotel. When that happens, we’ll first try to move the retreat to new dates or a nearby city.
If we can’t, or the new plan doesn’t work for you, you choose one of these:
This is exactly why travel insurance is required for every guest. A “Cancel For Any Reason” policy can cover you when this policy can’t.
If you’re unhappy with a charge, please talk to us before you contact your bank. A bank dispute freezes the payment while it’s reviewed and slows everything down for both of us. Most problems get solved faster in one conversation.
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If you’ve already booked a retreat, the version in place when you paid your deposit applies to your booking.
Questions about a refund or a cancellation? Send us a message and we’ll get back to you.
